日本の地域社会が抱える問題に取り組む鍵として、地域資源を活用して持続可能な消費と生産（SCP）を活性化する方法を提案する。 地域におけるSCPは、必ずしも最初から持続可能な消費と生産、あるいは環境面の持続可能性を目的としているわけではない。地域に暮らす人々が、環境に限らない様々な課題（高齢化、過疎化等）を認識し、地域内部及び外部の資源を動員して取り組むなかで、高度成長期における「大量生産大量消費」型とは異なる生産と消費の形を模索するケースが数多くある。 本稿では、持続可能な地域づくりに貢献する多様な取り組みが活発化している滋賀県東近江市およびタイ・コンケン市のケースに基づき、地域の課題に対する地域資源を用いた取り組みが、結果としてSCPの実現に寄与する方向性を議論した...
