森林リスク・コモディティのサプライチェーンマネージメントアプローチによる世界の森林減少抑制というEUDRの目的は素晴らしい。しかしその手法(e.g. 地理的位置情報の要求)はサプライチェーンからの小農の排除につながることも懸念されている。またそもそも、その手法は世界の森林減少抑制に効果を与える手法として効率的・効果的なのかという疑問もある。 一方、一部の生産国政府はEUDRを機会ととらえ、国レベルでのシステム変革を進めている。国レベルでの取り組みが最終的には森林減少、地域社会のエンパワーメントにつながる可能性もある。
