Commissioned Report

In Environment and Sustainable Development: Proceedings of the 2024 9th Asia Conference on Environment and Sustainable Development
In this study, we developed a logistic regression modeling approach to analyze the relationship between utility-scale solar power plant (SPP) locations and flood hazards. Based on the standardized coefficients of the model, we compared this relationship with the relationship between SPP presence/absence and other typical spatial determinants like...

Solar energy systems, either land- or water-based, have a huge potential for net-zero transition and generate multiple co-benefits despite the possible risks of not being designed or installed properly. Existing literature has revealed both positive and negative impacts of solar photovoltaic (PV) from the viewpoints of engineering design, energy...

The Final (3 rd ) Workshop on the National Long term Roadmap to Synergise Mitigation and Adaptation in the ASEAN region held on March 31, 2025
We attempted to show how to achieve a mitigation-adaptation integrated transition in agriculture sector by conducting a case study in coffee sector of Viet Nam. The factors facilitating an integrated transition of mitigation were: Private initiative lead by importers for sustainable coffee production has already started SAPs has synergies to...
Policy Brief
This policy brief examines the implications for ASEAN Member States (AMS) of the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and suggests an overall direction for responses. The EU’s CBAM aims to minimize carbon leakage and the loss of the EU’s trade competitiveness due to its more ambitious climate mitigation policies, particularly...

Integration of solar photovoltaics on croplands (“agrivoltaics”) has been promoted as an environmentally-friendly approach for solar energy deployment. Past studies, however, have not considered that these croplands could alternatively be used as sites for expanding agroforestry, a practice which provides important ecosystem services to the...

In a transition to a net-zero world, large-scale solar PV diffusion is essential in the Philippines and the entire ASEAN region, since its potential is much larger than wind and other renewable energies. Considering the vulnerability of the Philippines and accelerating climate change, it is also vital to make sure that net-zero transition based on...
