G20 Report on Actions against Marine Plastic Litter: Third Information Sharing based on the G20 Implementation Framework

This report is the third compilation report on policies and measures with regards to marine plastics litter taken / to be taken by the participating countries, regions and organizations. This comprehensive report was produced under the responsibility of the Ministry of Ecological Transition, Government of Italy, with the support of the Ministry of the Environment, Japan, and the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) as a follow-up of the G20 Implementation Framework for Actions on Marine Plastic Litter established at the G20 Ministerial Meeting on Energy Transitions and Global Environment for Sustainable Growth, Karuizawa, Japan, held in June 2019.

For this report, 22 non-G20 countries and 12 organisations contributed to the report by providing their inputs on a voluntary basis. From the G20 members, 15 countries continuously and newly submitted their actions for this year. The number of countries and regions sharing the Osaka Blue Ocean Vision has risen to 87 countries and regions as of July 2021, so there is rich information and data available in this year's report to overview the policy and action-oriented progress of countries and organisations within and beyond the G20 community.
