This pilot project focuses on the underserved settlement of Bhutto Nagar in Sahiwal to address severe public health risks and environmental degradation. The program's core strategy involves formalizing the informal waste sector by organizing independent pickers into Waste Business Associations, providing them with professional training, safety gear, and collective bargaining power. By integrating grassroots community engagement—such as women's groups and youth climate clubs—with entrepreneurial models for recycling, the project aims to bridge the gaps left by traditional municipal services. It expects to create a dignified, inclusive, and sustainable waste ecosystem that empowers local laborers while significantly reducing the city's environmental footprint.
