本研究は、地球規模で喫緊の課題となっている気候変動と生物多様性保全の観点から、カカオ生産における森林減少の実態と、持続可能な生産体制構築に向けた課題を明らかにすることを目的とした。特に、日本にとって最大のカカオ供給国であるガーナを対象に、カカオ生産と森林減少の関連性を分析するとともに、生産現場における課題を把握するため質問票調査を実施した。 分析の結果、近年の天然林の減少が森林保護区と国立公園に集中していることが示された。このことは、カカオ生産による森林減少のリスクを評価する上で、生態学的観点のみならず、生産国の土地利用政策を考慮した総合的な検討が不可欠であることを示唆している。また、質問票調査の結果から、認証を取得している農家であっても...
