Supporting the Transfer and Diffusion of Low Carbon Technologies: Japan’s Initiatives

This booklet aims to provide relevant information on Japanese low carbon technologies and services and the various mechanisms, schemes and initiatives for enhancing the transfer and diffusion of low carbon technologies in developing countries in the Asian region.

The booklet was commissioned by the Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ), as part of its initiative to promote the wider diffusion of Japanese low carbon technologies in eight Asian countries (Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Viet Nam) as well as support the operation of the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) in Asia. To this end, this booklet provides an overview of low carbon technologies and products from Japan, with some examples of specific technologies and relevant contact information. It also introduces both multilateral and bilateral mechanisms, schemes and initiatives through which stakeholders in developed and developing countries can get better information and access to relevant technologies, knowledge, partners and finance.

The booklet consists of two parts: the core part and the annexes. The core part provides the following information:
・A list of Japanese leading low carbon technologies
・Technical renovation elements that enable Japanese technologies and products to become more adaptable to various local conditions in developing countries in the Asian region, as well as a supporting scheme for promoting such renovation
・ A case study of an initiative for establishing a matching platform between Japan and India

The information below is provided in the annexes:
