Climate security is an emerging concept that underlines the critical importance of addressing climate change issues in the context of security. This session rolls out the IGES’s new initiative aiming to explore climate security in the Asia-Pacific from multiple perspectives including human mobility, food security and social development. Inviting the leading experts, this session will discuss the following questions; First, how can we understand the landscape of climate security in the Asia-Pacific region? Second, what are the priority areas of collective actions toward achieving climate security at local, subnational, national and regional levels? Third, what kinds of roles do the various state and non-state stakeholders play in securing human security in response to the climate crisis? This session will provide insights into how policy decisions and investments in climate change adaptation and resilience can ensure regional security in years to come.
