Insights of the Report
The Metropolitan City of Florence is committed to achieving the SDGs. To this end, the city presented its own Metropolitan Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development to guide its strategic decisions and define priorities to advance a more sustainable future. The VLR acknowledges the importance of subnational levels of government in localising and achieving the SDGs, since they are responsible for bringing to fruition actions to implement the 2030 Agenda. The VLR report, contextualises the Metropolitan City of Florence and gives a detailed description of the actions and progress towards the 17 SDGs, presenting data and a territorial analysis of the progress towards selected targets.

City Profile
The Metropolitan City of Florence is located in the Tuscany region of Italy that replaced the Province of Florence in 2015. The city of Florence is its capital. Florence is an important cultural and touristic centre in Italy and has been designated as UNESCO World Heritage Site, inscribed as the “Historic Centre of Florence.” The World Heritage Site include the Palazzo Pitti, the Florence Cathedral, the Basilica of Santa Croce, and the Uffizi among others.
