バンコク都は東南アジア有数の大都市で、急速な経済発展の中で、廃棄物発生量が年々増加。市域内に最終処分場を確保できないため、廃棄物処理の適正化は喫緊の課題である。バンコク都の食品ロスの削減策を模索するため、2017年12月に、タイのバンコク都の都市部および都市近郊における本調査を実施した。性別・年齢・職業の配分のバランスを考慮して、路上でランダムに選び、参加同意を確認した上、調査を行った。なるべく調査回答者の負担を減らし、また調査回答者に十分質問の意味を理解させるために、調査員と調査回答者は一対一でインタビュー調査を行った。また、廃棄物発生量に関する統計データを結合し、バンコク都の食品ロスの現状と直面する課題を明らかにした。
