Ecological conservation has become a core issue of global concern, and ecosystem services (ES) are fundamental to achieving sustainable development. However, integrated assessments of ES dynamics, spatial heterogeneity, and future land use scenarios in Mongolia remain insufficient. This study utilized Land Use and Land Cover (LULC) data from 2000...

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has become one of the most important regions in the global climate debate because it combines rapid economic growth, rising energy demand, and high climate vulnerability. This regional context has become more urgent after the outcome of the first Global Stocktake (GST 1) adopted at CMA.5 in 2023...

Microplastic pollution in tropical urban rivers has become an increasing environmental concern due to rapid urbanization, inadequate waste management, and hydrological transport processes. This study investigated the occurrence, characteristics, and spatiotemporal distribution of microplastics in the Can Tho River, Vietnam, along an urban– peri...

esearch Evidence and Policy Making: What Works to Advance Climate Adaptation and Resilience. A Research–Policy Dialogue
This presentation reflected on the experience of developing the ASEAN Climate Change Strategic Action Plan 2026–2030 (ACCSAP) to examine how evidence can move beyond assessment and analysis to influence policy and support implementation. The ACCSAP experience showed that evidence becomes policy-relevant not simply through technical quality, but...

Typhoon impacts in the Philippines exhibit strong neighbour hood-scale heterogeneity driven by interactions among haz ard intensity, exposure, and vulnerability, yet most opera tional assessments remain hazard-centric. This study presents a grid-based machine-learning framework for neighbour hood-scale typhoon risk mapping integrating geophysical...

JASTE36 Osaka Public Symposium "FIVE VISIONS“ Challenges of Nature Positive from a Tropical Perspective

Methane is a potent, short-lived climate pollutant responsible for nearly 0.5°C of global temperature rise. Though it remains in the atmosphere for about 12 years, its climate impact is 86 times stronger than carbon dioxide over 20 years, making methane mitigation one of the most effective strategies for tackling climate change. The waste sector...
