Xiaoyang Tan joined IGES in September 2022. Dr. Tan’ research mainly focusses on the development and operation of scenario-analysis approach, visualization tools and information platforms for effective policy planning support on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Service evaluation funded by the Environment research and Technology Development Fund at the Biodiversity and Forests unit.

Prior to IGES, she worked as a Researcher at Kyoto University (Japan), wherein she subsequently pursued her Ph.D. in Global Environmental Studies (Landscape ecology). Working on quantifying ecosystem service provided urban tree, urban tree health assessment. She was leading on the first street tree value assessment project in Kyoto, Japan, by collaborating with scholars from USDA.
