日本の近海および沿岸域を汚染している放棄・遺棄・投棄された漁具（ゴーストギア）は、日本国内から発生したものに加え、多くは近隣諸国を含む他国から漂着したものである。このことから、ゴーストギア対策は日本のみでなくアジア諸国全体で取り組むことが必要である。国際的にはゴーストギア対策を進める動きがあり、特に欧州や北米地域では様々な対策が進んでいるが、東アジア地域においても各国が対策に取り組んでいるものの、その現状はまだ我が国ではほとんど知られていなかった。そこで、本業務では、韓国と台湾を対象とし、ゴーストギアに関する両国の現状（流出の背景と現状、法制度、政府・民間による取組、その成果等）を明らかにすることを目的として、ステークホルダーに対するインタビュー調査を行った。

本業務では、G20 海洋プラスチックごみ対策実施枠組に基づく第7次報告書の作成やOsaka Blue Ocean Visionに関するウェブサイトにおける各国の海洋プラスチック対策に関する情報の発信、海洋プラスチック対策に関するウェビナーの開催等の国際連携支援を行った。
