一般社団法人 企業と生物多様性イニシアティブ(JBIB)が、武蔵野大学附属千代田高等学院・千代田女学園中学校と、次世代×JBIBコラボワークショップ「中・高校生×JBIBで考える海洋プラスチックごみ問題の解決に向けて私たちができること」を2019年11月6日(水)と16日(土)の2日間にわたり開催した。武蔵野大学附属千代田高等学院・千代田女学園中学校から、延べ32名の学生たちが2日間にわたり参加した。 11月6日(水)の初日は、オリエンテーションとして、2日間のワークショップで考えること、出すアイデアの方向性を全員で共有した。その後、「海洋プラスチックごみ問題に関する国際的な動向」について公益財団法人地球環境戦略研究機関(IGES)の堀田康彦より解説した。

3rd annual meeting between MOEJ and MTES, France on low-carbon environment-friendly society
2019年10月3日、日本国環境省とフランス環境連帯移行省により、東京において、第3回年次会合が開催された。会合では、気候変動対策、生物多様性、海洋プラスチックごみ等について、両国の政策や課題、二国間連携の進捗状況について意見交換を行われ、今後の更なる連携協力について合意が行われた。それに先立ち、10月2日に、日仏の研究者による海洋プラスチックごみに関する意見交換が行われた。その場で、IGESからは堀田上席研究員が出席し、循環経済と社会の文脈からみた海洋プラスチック廃棄物問題について、話題提供を行った。
