各国の生物多様性計画の指針となる、国連の「生物多様性戦略計画2011-2020」および「愛知目標」が、2020年に新たな枠組に更新される。この新たな枠組は「ポスト2020生物多様性枠組と呼ばれ、同年10月に中国の昆明で開催される生物多様性条約第15回締約国会議(CBD-COP15)で審議、採択される予定だった。新型コロナウイルス感染拡大を受けた度重なる遅延の後、COP15の第1部は2021年10月11日から15日まで昆明において、ほぼオンラインで開催された。第2部は最終的に2022年12月7日から19日の間に、CBD事務局の本拠地であるカナダ・モントリオールで開催されることが決まり、ここで新枠組が採択される予定である。本稿ではその要点を概説した。
