Tetsuro YOSHIDA

Born in Tokyo, Tetsuro Yoshida has served as an Environmental and Climate Change Officer at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), where he worked on projects related to renewable energy, forest restoration, and environmental education, as well as contributed to climate change policy development. His international assignments have taken him to Cyprus, France, Switzerland, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and South Africa.

Since 2011, he has served as a Senior Researcher at the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), where he has been actively involved in negotiations on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), G7 processes, and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) deliberations. His current research focuses on international environmental governance and sustainable urban development.

During his assignment at IGES, he was seconded to the Environmental Research Institute of Kawasaki City for 4 years, where he was engaged in international cooperation projects on decarbonization, air quality, and water management and in any other areas related to the environmental management of the City. 

He holds master’s degrees in International Law and Development from The Fletcher School at Tufts University, and in Environmental Science and Policy from Imperial College London. He is also a part-time lecturer at Keio University.
