Xin ZHOU

Dr. Xin Zhou is Research Leader at the Integrated Sustainability Centre at the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES). In recent years, her research focus has been placed on SDG indicators and interlinkages analysis, climate policy assessment, green jobs assessment, energy systems scenario analysis and water-food-energy nexus study. Currently, she is leading research on SDG interlinkages analysis, including methodology development, data analysis and applications at the national and sub-national levels to support SDG planning and implementation. Her expertise includes quantitative policy assessment, input-output analysis, life-cycle analysis, AI-based text analysis, statistical analysis, and the development of analytical tools. She led the development of the SDG Interlinkages Analysis & Visualisation Tool, the Interactive SDG Tool for River Basins, and the Japan 2050 Low Carbon Navigator to support informed policy making in the areas of SDG planning and implementation and decarbonisation. She received her Ph.D. in Environmental Studies from Nagoya University, Japan, in 2007. From 1994 to 2003, she had been working with the Policy Research Center for Environment and Economy (PRCEE), China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment. As Director of Policy Research Division, she led many policy research works supporting relevant policy-making at the national level. She received several national scientific awards from the Chinese government for recognising her academic achievements.
