IGES and FICCI Sign MOU to Strengthen Japan-India Climate Cooperation

IGES and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) signed a MOU on the implementation of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement and the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM). The partnership will support the deployment of advanced low-carbon technologies, climate finance and capacity-building initiatives in India, while promoting sustainable industrial development and shared decarbonisation goals. Both organisations will facilitate dialogue, knowledge sharing and joint industry-policy research to accelerate collaborative action.

GGGI Executive Director Visits IGES for Strategic Exchange with Researchers

On 19 March, the Executive Director of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) visited IGES Tokyo Sustainability Forum to exchange views on strengthening cooperation in addressing global environmental issues. IGES shared information on the implementation status of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, the progress of the carbon market, and the importance of institutional development and capacity building in each country. GGGI introduced its efforts to expand the carbon market, and both organisations reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in the fields of the carbon market and circular economy.

Breaking the Plastic Habit in ASEAN (31 March)

Plastic pollution is rising across Southeast Asia, driven by rapid urbanisation and consumption, where changing habits is key. The Breaking the Plastic Habit in ASEAN project is piloting behaviour-centred interventions in ASEAN countries to complement existing policies and encourage lasting reductions in plastic use. This online event shared lessons, practical examples and findings from educational facilities and similar institutions, as presented in a new report and explored how behavioural approaches can inform future regional policies and programmes.
