Daisuke SANO

He is currently serving as Director of Public Relations and Networking in the Strategic Management Office of the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) to oversee and coordinate public relations and collaboration with stakeholders at the Institute. Previouly he served as Director of Planning and Management in the Strategic Management Office (July 2017-June 2026). He has been involved in the overall operations of the institute for more than 10 years, including serving as director of its regional office in Bangkok. Over 30 years, he has been in the field of agricultural and sustainability issues since he started his career at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan. He joined IGES in 2005 and was engaged in various projects including trade liberalization in the agricultural sector, sustainable agriculture, biofuels, JICA’s Indonesia Climate Change Program Loan (ICCPL) monitoring and evaluation for the agricultural sector, climate change adaptation programs funded by the Ministry of the Environment, Japan, UNEP, USAID with various partner institutes. He holds a doctorate degree in Food and Resource Economics from the University of Florida, USA.
