Developed from an IGES working paper and based on the information gathered by hearing interviews to local experts and policy practitioners, this presentation explains the position of national emission trading scheme (ETS) in climate policy mix of China and the milestones for the development of this policy. The policy design features are analysed. The latest progress in ETS operation and market performance are depicted. It also tries to show the policy future direction and shares the experiences and lessons for the introduction and implementation of the national ETS in China.
