Cities account for approximately 70% of global greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption. Accelerating urban decarbonisation while addressing challenges such as environmental pollution and circular economy is critical to achieving the Paris Agreement’s 1.5-degree target.

IGES, in collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ), has been advancing the "City-to-City Collaboration Program for Zero Carbon Society (C3P)" since 2013. This programme promotes knowledge sharing and technical cooperation among cities as effective measures to support local decarbonisation efforts.

This seminar will convene experts, local governments, and stakeholders involved in C3P and other initiatives, fostering dialogue on accelerating decarbonisation and inspiring a domino effect domestically and globally. Hosted in Osaka, a vibrant and international hub, ahead of Expo 2025, the seminar aims to deepen discussions and drive actions toward a zero-carbon future. We welcome your participation in this pivotal event.
