ISAP2025 Thematic Track Sessions will continue in October. Registration is now open!

UPCOMING EVENTS
ISAP2025 Thematic Tracks - How do Socio-Ecological Production Landscapes and Seascapes (SEPLS) promote the Nexus Approach? - Integrating Theory and Practice (7 October)

The 2024 IPBES Nexus assessment showed how integrating biodiversity, water, food and health systems can effectively address environmental crises. The Satoyama Initiative (endorsed at CBD COP10 in 2010) promotes "socio-ecological production landscapes and seascapes" (SEPLS) that balance conservation with human needs. This session explores how SEPLS landscapes embody the nexus approach through case studies from Ghana and India, plus a panel discussion on implementation strategies.

ISAP2025 Thematic Tracks - Progress and Challenges of the Asia-Pacific Climate Security Project: How to Address Diverse Risks (8 October)

IGES Asia-Pacific Climate Security Project examines climate-related security risks beyond traditional impacts, focusing on threats like climate-conflict links and existential risks to island nations. Unlike conventional climate policy, climate security lacks a dedicated international forum and remains poorly defined without global consensus. IGES surveyed the Asia-Pacific region to better position climate security as a coherent policy area, with the project now reporting on progress and challenges. In this session, we will report on the progress and challenges of the project, which is entering its final year.

ISAP2025 Thematic Tracks - National Implementation and Current Status of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) to Address Climate Change Issues (10 October)

Nature-based Solutions (NbS) harness natural processes to address environmental challenges whilst delivering economic, social and ecological benefits. However, significant challenges remain in implementation across varied geographical regions, institution building, and for securing adequate funding. This session brings together experts from diverse backgrounds who research and implement NbS to share current developments, latest findings and practical case studies. Through interactive discussions with participants, the session explores challenges and opportunities for domestic and international expansion of NbS whilst considering future directions collaboratively.
