Purpose of the event

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which form the core of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (2030 Agenda) adopted in September 2015, have become the common language for the international community's goals toward 2030. The world has entered the implementation phase toward achieving the SDGs, and many initiatives taken practical steps forward.

SDGs Stakeholders' Meetings have been held since FY2016 to share the implementation status of the SDGs in the international community and in Japan. They also aim to share and recognize leading practices from various perspectives, including private companies, local governments, and NGOs, in order to promote SDG initiatives from the environmental aspect, and to provide momentum for further efforts.


Overview

Efforts to achieve the SDGs in Japan have been spreading throughout the country, and coupled with the swell to reach net zero emissions by 2050, various local governments and companies are promoting initiatives that put the SDGs at the forefront.

At the SDGs Stakeholders' Meeting, the latest trends related to the SDGs and trends in strengthening the synergy between the Paris Agreement and the SDGs will be shared. members will deepen discussions with the floor on future SDG policies, etc., based on specific good practices that have promoted synergistic effects.
