Behaviour Lab Partnership officially launched at ACCPP 2025 in Malaysia
NEWS
Behaviour Lab Partnership officially launched at ACCPP 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (15 October)

The Behaviour Lab Partnership, a collaborative initiative led by IGES and four major regional non-governmental actors, was officially launched during the ASEAN Conference on Combatting Plastic Pollution (ACCPP) 2025. The Partnership will build capacity in ASEAN countries around the application of behavioural science tools to tackle plastic consumption and waste behaviours. Key objectives of the partnership include promoting knowledge exchange and joint learning across public, private and civil sectors; strengthening inter-organisational collaboration across the ASEAN region to support sustainable behaviour change; and co-developing materials to inform and equip policy change, public engagement and sustainable business models. This framework will be an open-access tool for practitioners in the ASEAN region and beyond.

Updates to the G7 G20 Special Webpage

The IGES G7 G20 Special Webpage 2025 highlights key trends and notable points related to sustainability discussions, explanations of the outcomes of the meetings, and introduces relevant IGES publications, including a section called "Researcher's Perspectives" in which our researchers share their views on related issues. In November, Naoki Mori (Programme Director, Sustainable Finance & Business Taskforce) discussed the G20 Sustainable Finance Report and the Synergy Approach, while Nanda Kumar Janardhanan (Deputy Director, Climate Change) focused on whether the G20 can help shape an equitable energy transition mineral value chain. We invite you to read their insights and explore more of their work.

PAST EVENTS
COP30 Japan Pavilion Seminar - Exploring synergies through Nature-based Solutions (13 November)

Nature-based Solutions (NbS) are expected to serve as integrated solutions for overcoming the three global crises of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution. International efforts including the UNEA6 synergy resolution are calling for further promotion of collective action. As such, actively positioning initiatives within the framework of NbS is crucial for fostering social understanding, and for advancing collaboration and partnerships. This seminar featured prominent examples of NbS and shared some of the challenges identified through practical implementation. There were also discussions on key elements needed for sustainable deployment of NbS, including the applicability of practices across different regions.

COP30 Japan Pavilion Seminar - Clean City Partnership Program (C2P2) Seminar (12 November)

The role of cities in addressing climate changes is increasingly critical to achieving the 1.5°C goal. In February 2023, the Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ) in collaboration with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), launched the Clean Cities Partnership Program (C2P2) to tackle the complex challenges faced by cities worldwide. With participation from Japanese local governments, private companies, financial institutions and others, as well as collaboration with Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs), this programme offers comprehensive and synergistic support for the urban agenda, including climate change, environmental pollution, circular economy and nature-positive initiatives in partner cities. This seminar was a valuable opportunity for MOEJ and JICA to share Japanese initiatives, as well as inviting mayors, private sector representatives, and others to present various examples of MOEJ's City-to-City Collaboration Programs for Zero Carbon Society (C3P).
