Launch of the Special Webpage "IGES Plastic Focus: Tackling Pollution and Advancing Circular Solutions"
The fifth session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee to develop an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution, including in the marine environment (INC-5) was held in Busan, Republic of Korea, from 25 November to 1 December. This special webpage highlights global developments in addressing plastic pollution, focusing on the growing importance of the circular economy as a solution.
It also showcases IGES's contributions to this agenda, including its environmental policy insights, related publications, and past & upcoming events. You can also watch the video of ISAP2024 Plenary Session 3, where experts discussed the details of the INC negotiations and expectations for INC-5, via the link on this page.

LCS-RNet Meetings "LCS-RNet 15th Annual Meeting How can we accelerate action to stay below 1.5 degrees C?"
On 19-20 December, the Leveraging a Climate-neutral Society Strategic Research Network (LCS-RNet) will hold its 15th Annual Meeting online. Under the main theme "How can we accelerate action to stay below 1.5 degrees C?", this annual meeting will feature two keynote presentations, three thematic sessions and one panel discussion.
The keynote address on the first day will be given by Professor Jim Skea, Chair of the IPCC, followed by a Q&A session with participants, including young scientists. The keynote presentation on the second day will be followed by a briefing and Q&A session with participants on the 'Paris at 50 degrees: Adapting to Heatwaves' report.
Thematic sessions will cover 'Decarbonising industry', 'Agriculture and forestry in climate resilience strategy', and 'Cities and the governance of climate resilient pathways'. There will also be a panel discussion on 'Integrating local policy and action'.

【ISAP2024】 Thematic Tracks of the 16th International Forum for Sustainable Asia and the Pacific
IGES held the Plenary and Parallel Sessions of the 16th International Forum for Sustainable Asia and the Pacific (ISAP2024) earlier this year on 23 July. With "Taking an Integrated Approach to Overcome the Triple Planetary Crisis" as its main theme, ISAP2024 has hosted a series of thematic tracks, each delving into specific challenges related to individual topics. With the conclusion of Thematic Meeting 4, this year's ISAP2024 has officially come to an end.
