Book Chapter

With the development of globalisation and the emergence of global environmental issues such as climate change, China has become an important country in many multi-regional economic analysis models, such as the multi-region input-output models and the CGE (computable general equilibrium) models. Since China has large regional disparity in terms of geographical conditions, natural endowment, populations, cultures and economic development, China as a country in the multi-regional models can hardly capture the differences at the sub-national levels. It is necessary to disaggregate China into smaller regions, such as provincies. In this chapter, we develop the method to link the China's Inter-Province Input-Output Model (develped by the Chinese Academy of Sciences) with Asian International Input-Output Model (developed by the IDE-JETRO). We use the bilateral trade data for China and Japan and established the extended China's Interregional Input-Output Model, namely Japan-China Interregional Input-Output Model.
