To advance decarbonization in ASEAN and other Asian countries, Japan has implemented several initiatives: supporting NDC and LTS formulation through the Asia-Pacific Integrated Model (AIM); promoting corporate transparency via the Partnership to Transparency in Co-Innovation (PaSTI), including support for GHG measurement and reporting systems; and assisting policy development through support for Biennial Transparency Reports (BTRs) and GHG inventories.

Building on these efforts, Japan and ASEAN are working together to develop a tentatively titled “ASEAN–Japan Report on Growing toward Net Zero as an Input to the Second GST”, presenting an Asia-specific model of economic growth through decarbonization. The goal is to reflect this in the GST outcomes at COP33 and position it as an internationally recognized reference.

This seminar will share the initiative with ASEAN leaders, invite cooperation in report preparation, and gather views on expectations and key elements. It will also highlight specific examples of notable progress achieved this year in formulating decarbonization strategies.
