We are living in a pivotal time for action. Countries and entities with the highest emissions will need to take ambitious action to reinvent or reimagine themselves, by planning and implementing new pathways that have greenhouse gas (GHG) management and climate resilience at the core of their goals. By maintaining these pathways, economies can thrive under challenging conditions.
In that line of thought, the transition concept has recently emerged. In broad terms, this concept refers to the change that countries and entities need to make from today’s high greenhouse gas emissions to levels commensurate with meeting the goals of the Paris Agreement. Transition plans can help entities map out how the transition to a low carbon future can be achieved and build trust between issuers and investors as entities show commitment to a just transition.
Japan has been leading the field in the transition agenda, with governmental bodies and entities taking steps to show their dedication to transition. With this in mind, this webinar will take a closer look at the Japanese transition bond market and existing Japanese transition plans, using the five hallmarks and sector criteria to provide participants with a framework and reference to better understand these plans. The webinar will highlight the potential opportunities to facilitate a more credible and ambitious transition from today’s high GHG emissions to meeting global goals like the Paris Agreement.
