Escazú is a canton in Costa Rica situated in the west of San Jose province, forming part of the Greater Metropolitan Area. With a population of 71,202, it ranks as the twenty-second most populous in the country and the ninth in the province. Bordered by several cantons, it covers an area of 34.49 km² and includes three districts: Escazú, San Antonio, and San Rafael. Established in 1848, Escazú is recognized for its social, commercial, and economic development, often hailed as the most socially developed canton in the nation due to its high levels of education, healthcare, internet access and civic engagement. The canton hosts the country branches of various international organisations and companies.
