As included in the outcome of the first Global Stocktake at COP28, circular economy approaches are recognized as an indispensable tool for climate solutions. The essential role of businesses in promoting global circularity, thereby meeting ambitious climate and other environment goals is also widely recognized.
G7 Leaders endorsed CEREP in 2023, aiming to encourage companies to enhance circular action while promoting engagement with the public and the financial sectors.
Simultaneously, the demand for non-financial information disclosure is also growing for investments towards sustainability, requiring standardized metrics and disclosure schemes for circularity that allow companies to monitor, assess, disclose and communicate their corporate performance to the financial sector and other stakeholders.
GCP, a global initiative led by WBCSD aims to promote circularity in business through addressing such policy and accountability gaps.
Co-hosted by MOEJ, WBCSD and WEF, this session will highlight the importance of and the linkage between CEREP and GCP, and explore how an enabling framework can be established to drive circularity and enhance opportunities in businesses.
