Training workshop for reviewing JCM proposed methodology

(Asia/Tokyo)

The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) organised a training workshop on the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) on 6 August 2019 in the Philippines. The event was aimed at developing the capacity of officials from the Philippines’ Department of Energy, and enhancing their ability to promptly approve JCM methodologies.

IGES researchers explained the overall JCM methodology, including the details of draft methodologies for solar power and hydropower generation, and the means of review. They also stressed the need to approve the methodologies promptly. Workshop participants were actively involved in the discussion and raised various questions, such as an inquiry about the establishment of an emission factor, and the next steps after methodologies are approved. Overall, the workshop successfully drew the participants’ attention to the importance of methodologies in the JCM and greatly contributed to its promotion.
