Junko AKAGI

Completed the Graduate School of Sciences and Engineering (Chemistry), Saga University, and the Center of Life and Food Sciences Weihenstephan at the Technical University of Munich (Ph.D. in Science). After working at the GSF – National Research Center for Environment and Health (now Helmholtz Munich) and the Greenhouse Gas Inventory Office of the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES), she joined the IGES Kitakyushu Urban Centre as a researcher in 2013. 

Her research focuses on GX and decarbonization policies as well as the implementation of regional decarbonization. She promotes the development of decarbonized cities and the social implementation of decarbonization technologies through collaboration with local governments, businesses, and financial institutions. She is also involved in international decarbonization initiatives through city-to-city collaboration.
