West Java Province, known as Jawa Barat in Indonesian and Jawa Kulon in Sundanese, is situated on the western part of Java Island, Indonesia. The provincial capital is Bandung. West Java is the most populous province in Indonesia, with a population of 48,274,162 according to the 2020 Census. The province includes some of Indonesia's largest cities, such as Bekasi, Bandung and Depok. Bekasi and Depok are part of the Jakarta metropolitan area, while Bandung is a major urban centre on its own. West Java is a vital region both economically and culturally, contributing significantly to Indonesia's development.
