City Profile

Jambi City, located on Sumatra island, serves as the capital of Jambi Province in Indonesia. The city was officially established on 28 May 1401. It was recognised as an autonomous municipal region by the Governor of Sumatra’s Decree No. 103/1946 on 17 May 1946. Subsequently, it was designated as a “big city” under Law No. 9 of 1956, which created autonomous regions within Central Sumatra Province. Today, Jambi City is a blend of rich historical heritage and administrative significance, continuing to evolve while preserving its unique cultural legacy.
