Insights of the Report
Following the updated mission statement for the district of Fürstenfeldbruck in 2022 and joining the Club of the 2030 Agenda Municipalities in the same year, the voluntary local review was the next step in the district towards sustainable municipal development. Fürstenfeldbruck took this opportunity to analyse the district’s progress on sustainability and to highlight the corresponding challenges faced by actors engaged in sustainable local development. This first Voluntary Local Review also provides inspiration for stepping up and broadening dialogue with other local government bodies around the globe, and working together to come up with joint solutions for various challenges.

City Profile
The district of Fürstenfeldbruck is located between the two large cities of Augsburg and Munich, close to the Upper Bavarian lakes Ammersee and Starnberger See. In 2013, the district council of Fürstenfeldbruck adopted guiding principles for politics and administration. In order to take account of current challenges in the district, the mission statement was revised 2019-2022 on the basis of an up-to-date analysis of the current situation and with the participation of experts and the public. The mission statement and its resulting implementation-oriented strategy and action programme consists of forward-looking guidance and technical goals as well as needs-based projects. In its entirety, the mission statement is aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda and specifies targeted options for implementation at the municipal level.
