Insights of the Report

Agadir is the first city in Morocco to publish a VLR report. The VLR reviews SDGs 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 13 and 17. The VLR reflects on the ambitious plans delineated by Agadir for the period 2022-2027, focusing on transformation into a smart, resilient and sustainable city. This action plan was developed through an extensive stakeholder engagement process and places people at the core of its priorities. By adopting this inclusive approach, Agadir aims to enhance its quality of life in a sustainable way.

City Profile

Agadir is situated along the Atlantic Ocean some 500 kilometres south of Casablanca. Agadir stands as a vital urban centre experiencing rapid population growth. Nowadays, Agadir is Morocco's largest seaside resort, famed for its mild winter climate and beautiful beaches, attracting both international tourists and northern Europeans seeking winter sun. The city’s economy boasts important tourism activities and fishery industries.
