On 24 December 2025, the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) and the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on research collaboration.
IGES and ERIA have been partners since first signing an MOU in January 2021, contributing to the advancement of sustainable resource circulation and environmental policies in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and East Asia through research collaboration on the circular economy and prevention of marine plastic pollution.
Building on this long-standing partnership, under the updated MOU, the two institutes will advance knowledge sharing through collaborative research, joint publications, and the co-organisation of seminars and symposia. These activities will enable IGES to further strengthen its cooperation with ERIA as a policy think tank and develop more comprehensive and systematic interaction in academic and policy research fields related to the economy, environment, energy and sustainable development, contributing to sustainability in ASEAN and East Asia.
