From Science to Implementation: Strengthening the Science-Policy Interface (SPI) to Integrate Climate Change, Resilience, and the Sustainable Development Goals

12 July 2019 13:15-14:30

A key message from IPCC 1.5 C special report is that leveraging synergies and avoiding trade-offs between climate-action and development priorities can help limit global warming to safe levels. There nonetheless remain questions on how policymakers can incorporate science-based research on climate and development linkages into policies and practices. Doing so will require not only strengthening the bonds climate change and the SDGs but also enhancing dialogue between scientists and policymakers. With inputs from S20, STI Forum, Climate and SDGs Synergy Conference, this session will highlight high-level speakers working to integrate climate change (including provisions of the Paris Agreement and Sendai Framework) and the SDGs by strengthening the SPI.
