Learning Café on Communicating Indigenous and Ancestral Knowledge for Climate Actions in Amazonia, the Andes and the Hindu-Kush Himalaya

5 November 2021 (Friday) 20:30 - 21:30 (JST) / 11:30-12:30 (Local time)

On 5 November, IGES, in collaboration with the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development's Himalayan University Consortium (ICIMOD-HUC) and La Organización Nacional de Mujeres Indígenas Andinas y Amazónicas del Perú (ONAMIAP) will organize a Learning Café during the Adaptation and Resilience Day of the UNFCCC's 3rd Capacity-building Hub. This session will share lessons, experiences, issues and challenges for climate action, based on indigenous and ancestral knowledge from Amazonia, the Andes and the Hindu-Kush Himalaya. Participants will also discuss and present innovative modes of communication needed to express and highlight the potential of and issues surrounding indigenous and ancestral knowledge for climate action at the local level. The session is closely linked with IGES' ongoing indicatives on adaptation communication of indigenous and local knowledge in the Hindu-Kush Himalayan Region in collaboration with ICIMOD-HUC, AMARC-Asia Pacific, Royal University of Bhutan, HNB Garhwal University, and Keio University under the APN CAPaBLE program.

The Capacity Building Hub was established by the UNFCCC's Paris Committee on Capacity-building (PCCB) and has carried out its work since COP24 Katowice in 2018.
