世界の主要な投資家や銀行などの金融機関は、202111月に開催される国連気候変動枠組条約(UNFCCC)第26回締約国会議(COP26)に注目しつつ、「パリ協定」や「ネット・ゼロ」に沿った行動をとることを約束している。これと並行して、投資家や金融機関の間では、生物多様性に関連する投資ポートフォリオのリスクを懸念する声が高まっている。これは、気候変動と生物多様性の間に重要な関連性、すなわち、相乗効果やトレードオフがあることや、生物多様性の破壊を含む生態系への人間の影響がCOVID-19のような感染症の拡大に関係している可能性が認識されつつあるためと考えられる。本イシューブリーフでは、政府や投資家が事業者と連携して生物多様性の保全にさらに資金を振り向けるために求められる行動について整理する。
