環境保全と産業発展の両立をめざす「エコロジー的近代化」とは何か。理論の変遷を紹介するとともに、経済発展の段階を織込みながら世界各国の事例を挙げ、その思想の本質に迫る「世界のエコロジー的近代化：理論と事例研究」（原題：Ecological Modernisation Around the World: Perspectives and Critical Debates）に所収された付論。

本レポートには、SDGsに関する認知度のほか、国連グローバル・コンパクトが重視するSDGsゴール5（ジェンダー平等）、8（はたらきがい・人権）、13（気候変動）、16（腐敗防止）と、日本企業で取り組みの加速が期待されるゴール12（持続可能な消費と生産）の5つのゴール（主題にしたテーマ）の取り組みの進捗について、各分野の専門家による分析・考察が含まれています。前回の調査でSDGs認知度と取り組み進捗度が十分に高まったことを踏まえ、今回はSDGsの経営への組み込みや取り組む際の課題など、実践段階における取り組みの「質」について深堀した内容となっています。
