Japan-France Collaboration on Long-term Low Carbon Strategies

The brochure on the Japan-France Collaboration on Long-Term Low Carbon Strategies, developed by the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), gives an overview of the activities undertaken in 2016-2017 under the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ) and the French Ministry of Environment, Energy and the Sea (MEEM).

Signed by both Ministers for the environment at the Japan Pavilion of the COP 21 in Paris in December 2015, the collaboration involves a joint research on scenario modelling for the development and implementation of long-term low-carbon strategies. As a reference, the brochure provides a short summary of the main features of the French national low carbon strategy and the Japanese long-term climate change policy.

It also shows the events that already took place under this collaboration, such as annual intergovernmental workshops and expert meetings by contributing organizations and research institutes from both countries.

The brochure is available in English, Japanese and French.
