Bottom-up Approach of Regional Non-State Actors towards Updating NDCs in Post-GST

Event: COP28 Side Evenet, UAE
Presentation

This presentation provides a framing of the COP28 official side event, entitled "Bottom-up Approach of Regional Non-State Actors (NSAs) towards Updating NDCs in Post-GST" by IGES, West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL), University of Technology Malaysia (UTM), Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities (ICSC), and the ClimateWorks foundation.

The event aims to explore how NSAs and state actors can effectively collaborate during the post GST period to update and enhance the next round of NDCs. The technical phase of first GST clearly indicated that collaborative efforts between Parties and Non-State Actors (NSAs) are essential to address the gaps identified through the GST. NSAs include civil society organizations, research institute, universities, the private sector, cities and local governments, communities, among others, in the context of GST.
