Create Social Co-benefits to Achieve SDGs

Event: Second Regional Seminar for the Asia-Pacific Region Parliaments on Achieving the SDGs
Date: May 2019, Ulaanbaatar

Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) hosted its second regional seminar to provide parliaments the opportunity to discuss their crucial role in achieving the SDGs and invited IGES as the speaker for the session on climate change. The presentation put particular emphasis on how parliaments and parliamentarians could increase awareness on climate change. It highlighted the current trends in international climate policy, including social co-benefits for marginalised and vulnerable populations in the Asia-Pacific region and contributed to substantive interactions on how parliaments could ensure that climate change mitigation actions are consistent with other environmental priorities and respond to the socioeconomic needs of all.
