It has been more than a decade since the “NAP process” was established as part of the Cancun Adaptation Framework at COP16 in 2010. Until then, numbers of technical and financial support have been provided to accelerate NAP process by UNFCC constituted bodies, UNFCCC funding mechanisms and bilateral donor agencies. Currently at the COP27, documents such as NDCs and NAPs have frequently been recognized as an effective source of information to assess adaptation progress and needs under the discussion of the Glasgow–Sharm el-Sheikh work programme on the global goal on adaptation (GlaSS) and the Global Stock Take (GST).
However, there are few surveys providing an overview of the status of adaptation planning focusing in the regional contexts. The presentation introduces the findings from the recent survey conducted with the objective to take a snapshot of the current status of adaptation plan formulation in the Asia-Pacific. The survey analyzed not only the NAP documents but also other documents submitted to the UNFCCC including adaptation plans, to grasp a full picture of adaptation planning in the region.
