Concept of Capacity Development Program under AP-PLAT

IGES organized a special event "Filling the Adaptation Gap" together with Ministry of the Environment, Japan at 7th Asia-Pacific Climate Change Adaption Forum on March 2021.   

The session purpose was to share the latest scientific findings on climate change adaptation, by introducing the two latest and world-known scientific reports "Adaptation Gap Report 2020” published by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the “State and Trends in Adaptation Report 2020” by the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA)" and an interim summary of the literature review on adaptation options to feed into the IPCC AR6 process.

The session also introduced the AP-PLAT approach for capacity building in Asia to fill such gaps through collective actions by a group of institutions in Asia and invite the APAN Forum participants to explore their participation in this process.  Kuyama made a presentation of the concept of AP-PLAT capacity program based on the result of disucssion at the prior virtual workshop among potential partners.
