Commentary on Cases of Climate Change Adaptation in Africa

The objective of Chapter 3 was to present cases from Africa that highlight the local adaptation initiatives in the backdrop of the uniqueness of Africa in terms of its geographical, social, economic, and climate change impacts. This chapter has brought together an useful mixture of case studies of experiences and lessons learned on a variety of aspects of climate change adaptation in the diverse African countries including Algeria, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, the Kingdom of Lesotho, Malawi, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Tunisia, and Zambia. This commentary analyzed the presented case studies and gave a synthesis on what need to be done to promote adaptation in Africa and how to use the experiences from Africa elsewhere.
