“The role of integrated reporting in understanding and communicating on the SDGs and natural capital”
In response to requests from investors for environmental, social and governance (ESG) information disclosure, over 300 Japanese companies have issued their Integrated Reports. At the centre of these integrated reports is how to communicate corporate creative value to stakeholders. The International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) formulated a framework for integrated reporting, and companies are required to identify the relationship between their business model and the six types of capital (financial capital, manufacturing capital, intellectual capital, human capital, social capital, and natural capital). Companies should also explain how they connect this with value creation for business. Recently more and more companies are including SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) in their reporting.
How do we communicate with investors describing SDGs related to value creation for business? Also, how should we describe natural capital, which is an emerging critical aspect, as part of integrated reporting? In this seminar, Neil Stevenson, Managing Director of Global Implementation in IIRC, will introduce how to integrate the perspective of SDGs and natural capital into integrated reporting. In addition, we will introduce some examples of integrated reporting from the CSO of Novo Nordisk, a Danish pharmaceutical company, and the sustainability staff of a Japanese company who are promoting sustainability management and who release excellent Integrated Reports.
