In the first part of this side event, three carbon market experts from ICTSD, West African Alliance on Carbon Markets and Climate, and IGES presented some discussion points on Article 6. The second part of the event was moderated by Dr. Yuji Mizuno, Director of IGES, and negotiators from key countries (Singapore, Senegal, EU, Costa Rica and Japan) expressed their views on the important elements of the Paris rule book. This side event presented several discussion points such as the necessity to avoid double counting, the important role of governance, and the necessity of overall mitigation activities in global emissions through market mechanisms.
