The JCM Workshop on Low Carbon Technologies for Sustainable Development in Cambodia
The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES)、the Department of Climate Change, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (DCC, MONRE), and the General Secretariat of the National Council for Sustainable Development (GSSD) jointly organised the “JCM Workshop on Low Carbon Technologies for Sustainable Development in Cambodia” on 16 January 2018.
Aiming towards promoting sustainable development goals through transfers of low-carbon technology, the purpose of the workshop was to share experiences of the JCM model projects to attract and enhance the implementation of JCM in Cambodia. IGES researchers gave presentations on “CDM and JCM under the Paris Agreement”, “the JCM model project financing programme and project development support (example: solar PV)” and “Introduction to ADB trust fund and projects, Low carbon technology”. Participants of two projects; “Ultra-lightweight Solar Panels for Power Generation at International School” and “Provincial Water Supply and Sanitation Project” also shared their experiences in utilising the JCM, which were useful for the future of the scheme in Cambodia. Around 50 participants representing the government and the private sector gained an understanding of the mechanism and methodologies though active discussions.
